Wine question-Does it go bad?!

Question:

Wine question-Does it go bad?

If I took wine out of a bottle and poured it back in a few minutes later, is it still ok to drink? Can it go 'bad'?

Answers:
Yes wine can go bad. It does not really spoil as it is already that. Wine turns to vinegar. This is not really a bad thing if that is what you want, wine vinegar, but it is really not so pleasant to drink. The pouring it back into the bottle bit is not the issue it is about time. As long as you drink it in a reasonable amount of time you should be ok. 2-3 days should not be a big issue, though the flavor may suffer a small bit.

Once open to air, the going bad process starts. Enjoy while you can.

Absolutely! If you do not keep it covered or in a somewhat controlled temperature, it will become "skunky".

A red wine will often be poured into a decanter to "let it breathe". So what you did is no problem at all. Eventually it will go bad, but for now - enjoy!

Yes, it's called "vinegar"!

Yes, your wine will be fine. It can last for a couple of days once opened, if properly sealed again, but begins to oxidize and subsequently ruins many of the delicate aromatic qualities inherent in wine. There is a hand held vacuum pump that sucks out the air when you re-cap an open bottle, around $10.00 in stores, it works.

yes. and no it will not go bad.

sure it can. it will usually have the smell of vinigar.

Yes your wine can go bad but it shouldn't for a few days. When it is bad you will know it. It smells like a musty old basement.

It being poured and then put back will not make it go bad.
What will make it "turn to vinegar" is if you open it (letting it be exposed to air) and don't drink it within 2 to 3 days (at the most). Just make sure that when you are done with it and want to save the rest you have the cork back in it and lay it down on it's side.
