Difference between pucker, schnappes, and pucker schnappes?!
Answers: I'm trying to make jello shots, which should I use the Grape Pucker, Grape Schnappes, or the Grape Pucker Schnappes and what is the difference?
DeKeuyper makes it all. They're all a schnappes, it's just that if it says "pucker" on it, it's rather tart and will make you "pucker". If it doesn't say "pucker" on the label, it's a sweet tasting liqueur.
Apple pucker is the only one I've tried so far. Fell in love with it on the Disney Wonder when we were cruising in the Bahamas. I can't wait to try the Wild Berry Pucker next.
Schnappes is a type of alcohol. Usually very fruity for use in fun mixed drinks (adding lots of flavor and color) and with a little less alcohol concentration that your typical vodkas, tequilas, etc Pucker is a specific BRAND of Schnappes. (Just like "Dad's" root beer versus "A& W" root beer.)
As for what to use. I don't think it really matters that much. Pucker is a pretty popular brand and sold in most grocery stores. I'm sure its just as good as any others.
Grape Pucker and Grape Pucker Schnapps are the same. All Pucker flavors are Schnapps, which are flavored low alcohol content additives. Grape Schnapps just means that it isn't made by Pucker (the brand). Other companies sell varying flavors of Schnapps.
However, to make jell-o shots, you should use just a regular vodka with at least 35% alcohol. Rather than adding all water, put some regular vodka (flavored if you'd like). Schnapps has less alcohol per volume than regular vodka and is more syrupy, since it is made for mixing in cocktails and such. Therefore, after it is diluted with water, the alcohol will be pretty nonexistent in a jell-o shot.
