When it comes to pubs, what's better?!
Answers: A free house, A tied house or a chain? Why?
If you're drinking mixed drinks, a chain is better because the drinks are measured...you know what you're getting each time.
Free house, because there is usually a better selection of beers
Freehouse - at least you stand a chance of getting a decent beer & maybe even convincing the owner to try out something different.
Next comes a tied house - as long as it is tied to a decent brewery (& preferably one that has guest ales).
A chain? Wouldn't know - last time I tried to order real ale in one I got a blank look & walked out.
Compared to what we have in the States, they're all good!

chains are cheaper, think of weatherpoons, but free house is best not tied down or anything,
Always a free house. It is owned by the landlord and he can sell what he likes an the price he likes without having to do what the brewery tells him!
