Does all alcohol have to go through fermentation?!

Question:

Does all alcohol have to go through fermentation?

Including: Beer (I know that has to), Wine, (that one has to also) but what about Vodka, Schnapps, Whiskey, Bourbon, and Everclear?

Answers:
Yes. Fermentation is the process of the yeasts breaking down the sugars with the principal by-product being alcohol. With beer the original liquid that is fermented is a combination of malt, barley, wheats and corns all crushed up and soaking in water with the yeasts. With wine, it's from smashed up grapes (you can also make peach wine, apple wine, etc by replacing grapes with the appropriate.). Hard liquors usually are from a high-sugar content ingredient, such as potatoes or sugar (vodka), corn (whiskey), sugar cane (rum), agave (tequila). So yes, this is how all alcohol is made. Beer and wine, the process stops here. Hard liquor is distilled further. For instance once you've fermented your sugar water and had a alcohol/yeast/water/impurities combination, you heat it to produce a steam that contains water and alcohol, the steam is routed and cooled in a specific pattern that it separates the two, so that the output is a much higher concentration of alcohol to water. From here you can purify it further by running it through charcoal to remove impurities and add flavorings if desired.

Spirits are generally fermented and then distilled. Although cheaper brands seem to taste like they get made with industrial alcohol.

Fermentation will only yield about 20% at most optimal. The hard alcohol is achieved through a process called distillation.

Alcohol is accomplished in two ways. Fermentation and Distillation.

Whiskey, Vodka, Bourbon, etc are distilled.

Beer as well as Wine are fermented products and Cognac is actually the distillation of Wine!

i would think so because the ethanol (alcohol) content of these drinks would come from yeast....ethanol that makes these drinks alcoholic is actually a byproduct of yeast metabolism through a process called anaerobic metabolism or fermentation... after fermenting, the yeast is killed by heating

yes

yeppers all alcohol has go through the same process of waiting to ferment to become alcohol . From home made to big brewwers nothing to do but let it set and wait for father time to do his thing.

Yes,all the alcohol have to go through fermentation, because the process of fermentation is made by some bacteria which transforms the current liquid into alcohol.
If these bacteria disappear we can't drink Beer,Wine ...

All alcohol is yeast sh*t! True... True...

As such, all alcohol is derived initially from fermentation.

Wine and beer stop there. Hard alcohol is further refined by the distillation process, where the ferment is heated to just below the boiling point of water, and the steam is primarily alcohol. To get to 80 proof, a second distillation takes place.
