What wine should you pair with Gorgonzola cheese ?!

Question: I bought Gorgonzola Dolce and want to know what wine would go best with it.

Answers: I bought Gorgonzola Dolce and want to know what wine would go best with it.

I would opt for wine that has a fruitier characteristic such as Semillon from Sauterne or even a Moscato d'Asti. Because Gorgonzola is a bleu cheese and has an almost tangy taste the honey and orchard fruit notes in these wines work well. It is the same idea behind why pairing bleu cheese and apples/pears and etc., compliment each other. The fruit offsets some of the "tanginess" in the cheese, thus the wine tastes less sweet and the cheese a bit milder. A delcicious combo in my opinion!

i *personally* like it with Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, but I know it's *supposed* to go with a red bordeaux.

port

Pinot grigio--it is a nice tangy counterpoint to the gorgonzola.
