Are home bread makers any good/ Are they worth the money?!

Question:

Are home bread makers any good/ Are they worth the money?

Answers:
Yes they are very good, I bought my boyfriend one for xmas and he uses once to twice a week to make bread. It's a lovely gadget to have and makes making bread easy while tasting better than the supermarket stuff. It's so convenient and you don't waste precious time messing around with the dough. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that it's waste of money because take my word it isn't.

don't get one it will only end up at the back of your cupboard along with the sodastream and breville sandwhich maker.

Yes they are quite good but i think its more of an achievement if you make it all by hand, they do reduce cooking time but i find it tastes different and i prefer it done by hand

fresh bread is one of the best things in the world, if you are going to use it all the time, then yes get one. be sure to get a good knife to cut fresh bread

I love all the breadmakers so far that I've had or used at friends' homes. My current one is the Black & Decker "All In One".

Yea, I'd say so, I cannot recommend any good brands, but I grew up with parents who had a machine. The thing about it, is that you have more options in terms of varieties that you cannot find in the stores, and its always hot and fresh. Personally, I don't like "surprises" or "adventures" in regards to foods like bread, so check out a bread machine cookbook, and see if you see anything good, otherwise keep buying the loaves at the store.

Personally I've not found one that works well for long not to mention the holes in the bottom on a baked loaf. I now use one to mix up all the ingredients and on the last rise before baking I remove it from the bread machine and place it in a bread pan and let the final rise occur there and bake it in my oven. I've had 3 diffferent models/brands and get similiar results. The do make great bread mixers..

As an alternative, get a nice high end mixer like Kitchenaid. It will kneed the bread as well as any of the bread machines. And it can be used for hundreds of other things too. You'll have a lot more flexibility with one of those and a few bread pans.

I use mine nearly everyday.
It depneds on how much bread you eat really.

I agree with Gregory, about the holes in the bottom of the loaf. There is nothing better than the smell of baking bread and the satisfaction of kn owning what is in your bread. You can use if for other things that require kneading too, I love mine!

I've heard so many people say they've consigned their machine hardly used, to the back of a cupboard. Unless you are going to use it regularly and have room for it on a work top I'd say it is not worth buying one. Personally, I wouldn't even consider one and have no trouble with a large bowl, a wooden spoon and a pair of hands, or a large mixer, which is much more versatile than any bread making machine. Despite what some people think it doesn't take much effort to make bread, and neither does it take hours between proving, but it is very therapeutic and satisfying.

Just do it by hand, its not that time consuming and you save yourself some money.

Unless you are feeding a young family, then it may be a worthwhile investment.

The ones from Australia are great!
