Wine drinkers?!

Question:

Wine drinkers?

what does "contains sulfites" in the wine bottle's label mean? i'm starting to drink wine for the health benefits, and that phrase doesn't sound very healthy.

Answers:
Sulfites are a naturally occurring preservative. They are a naturally occurring by product of the wine making process and act as a preservative which extends the length of time you can store a bottle of wine. They also help prevent you from getting sick from a yeast reaction and they also prevent your wine from turning to vinegar.
You may recall people getting ill from sulfite reactions when restaurants used to douse their salad bars with such high quantities of sulfites. These high quantities kept the veggies "fresh" and crisp all day long. The sulfites in wine are in tremendously smaller quantities and are much, much safer to consume.
I do recall reading that a winery or two was attempting to make sulfite free wine but I am not sure if they ever made it to store shelves. Hope this helps

Its basically a preservative for wine that some people have an allergic reaction to (sulphur dioxide). Its like when you products and they have to state 'contains nuts' etc.

The product is even found in nature and is nothing to worry about at all (unless youre allergic to it!)

It is a preservative and will blow off after a short while as well as when you swirl the wine. You can always go for organic or biodynamic wines which are usually more expensive. Instead of using fertilizer they use cow manure and harvest the grapes according to the phases of the moon usually on "Fruit" days. Try Domaine Leflaive from Puligny-Montrachet.
