Sparkling water makes your eyes sparkle like diamonds. Still water makes your eyes glaze over like a crack addict. So the question really is, how do you want to look? Like a million bucks or five?

bubbles. still has no bubbles and sparkling has bubbles. Voss from Norway for example has regular still water and then they add bicarbonate to the still water to create the bubbles in their sparkling.

carbonation. I prefer still, meself as it doesn't tend to interfere with other stuff, most noticeably, Scotch.
