Samuel adams longshot?!
Answers: who hads tasted the new samule adams longshot in what do you think about it. i like both but found the "weizenbock" to be a bit better
I really enjoyed the Weizenbock. It was, by no means, the best of the style I've ever tasted, but I found it to be quite nice...
The Grape Pale Ale was another story. I thought it was quite disappointing, actually. The white grape skins are too mild, and the hop presence is almost nonexistent (not good for a pale ale). I think a stronger alpha hop would have been a better choice, and maybe a more aggressive grape varietal, to bring the flavor more to the forefront. It wasn't offensive, but pretty one-dimensional.
I'm upset we didn't get to try the 3rd winner: Double IPA. Of course, because of hop shortages the world over, they weren't able to brew this beer this time. That's a shame, since that style is one of my favorite styles.
I've still got some of last year's Old Ale cellaring downstairs... can't wait to break that out in a few months.
