Is it true that a shot of 40% proof jd has the same effect as a pint of 5% lager?!

Question: i was told this at a bar the other day and just wanted to see if it was true. :S

Answers: i was told this at a bar the other day and just wanted to see if it was true. :S

It all has to do with how much alcohol is mixed with the other liquid. A shot (1.5 oz) of 40% hard liquor has 0.6 oz pure alcohol (40% equals 80 proof). A pint (16 oz) of 5% lager has 0.8 oz alcohol. Therefore, the lager actually has more alcohol than a shot. Of course, it depends on how fast you drink each, since the alcohol will begin to metabolize pretty quickly.

Yep. s'true

Drinks affect you in different ways. The amount of alcohol in a measure of 40% is about the same as in half a pint of lager. Lager acts quicker. Spirits (drunk neat) last longer.

Yes - do the math. You can put 8 shots into one pint.

a 50 ml double shot of jd being 40 % proof.
is the same as having 400ml of lager at 5%

1 12 oz beer
1 4 oz glass of wine
1 shot of liquor
all have about the same amount of alchol

The thing is you drink one ounce of JD, where you drink 12 of beer. Now if you drank 12 oz. of JD, then it would be much more potent than 12 oz. of beer. :)

No, a 50ml double would have the same effect.
