Rum by far!!!!!! I drink my rum with diet coke or here's a good one... Captain Morgan Private stock with Starbuck's Vanilla Frappuchino... Pretty sweet so I can never have more than one or two, but it's damn tasty.

Rum and coke. Or Vodka an Lemonade (Bull Frog) or Cranberry Juice (Cape Cod). Both are great depending on what kind of mood you are in.

Rum and coke is always a good standard. If you use vodka, you could mix it with just about any fruit juice you can think of. Also, you can mix the vodka with different flavors of schnappes. Whether it's regular schnappes or the pucker, it's good.
Run the ideas past your friends and see what they say. The majority usually rules.... unless it's the one with money to buy it. lol

Vodka can be mixed with anything and not really affect the flavor, so it's more versatile but Rum (especially a good dark rum) has more flavor & makes a great mai-tai!

Vodka with lemonade is awesome. Also try ruby red vodka with pink grapefruit, shake with ice, pour into martini glass and top with champagne. Super yummy. Or, just mix it with kool aid. Hah. We even mix it with Crystal Light for those low carb drinkers. :)
