What is a Madame butterfly?!

Question:

What is a Madame butterfly?

A friend of mine recently had an alcoholic drink call madame butterfly. We want to know what is in it but can't seem to find anything about it. Please help.

Answers:
Besides being an opera.

It is a type of sake-martini:

4 ounces vodka
2 tablespoons candied ginger, minced, plus more for garnish
1 ounce sake
Crushed ice
Cucumber slices

Gently shake the vodka, ginger, sake and ice together in a cocktail shaker. Pour into two chilled martini glasses and serve garnished with cucumber and candied ginger slices.

A variation:

The Pinkerton (a new twist to Gekkeikan's Madame Butterfly)

1 oz. Sake, chilled
? oz. Plum Wine, chilled
? oz. Nonino Pear Williams Eau de Vie, chilled
? oz Chambord Liqueur
Garnish:
? small pear
lemon juice
wooden skewer
Combine all ingredients over ice. Shake well.
Pour into cocktail glass.
Cut pear lengthwise into 4 slices and dip into lemon juice to keep pear from turning brown.
Skewer and lay across rim of glass.
If you would prefer a tall drink, pour cocktail over ice cubes and add club soda. Garnish with fresh pear.
