What are some tasty drinks?
I am not a big drinker but enjoy a social drink every now and then. What are some good drinks to enjoy if I do not like the taste of alcohol? I enjoy the effects of alcohol, just not the taste.
Answers:
Part Pisang Ambon, part Gin, and filling the rest of the highball glass with sprite, a very popular mix. I am usually not much for gin, but the juniper berries actually mix well with the banana spices. And having a cool green drink tends to trip people out. You can of course make Vodka Spring, and Rum Spring. They might have other names elsewhere,....hard to keep track.
Pisang-Sprite
For those who like their drinks quite light, there is the Pisang-Sprite. Or Pisang-Soda. Nothing too difficult here. One part Pisang, two parts sparkling beverage of choice. You are officially a lightweight as there is less than 7% alcohol in this. But to each his (or her) own.
Ladder
I am usually not much for complicated drinks, it is a pain in the butt to make a drink that requires 4 or 5 ingredients, and really you can rarely taste all the various flavors as one of the components will eventually drown out the other ones. This is why the Ladder has both Pisang and Creme de Banana. It is worth checking out, but in the end it just gets to be a bit much. When I had it, I liked it though, just not enough to order it again.
Unlike Blue Curacao, Pisang Ambon is hugely popular with juices, especially with Orange and Pineapple Juices. The listings here can go on for a long time. I will keep it brief but basically anything with fruits or fruit flavors will work well.
Yellow Sock
Think of this as a modified Screwdriver. The less than glorious name aside, this is probably one of the best ways to have Pisang Ambon. People also often leave out the Vodka and make it a Pisang-Orange, a very light, very fruity drink. Also somewhat weird colored with the yellow and the green. So it goes. This might go by other names too,...keep that in mind.
Bakkus
For those of you who like to get interesting orders on your way to getting S-faced this one will do it in a hurry. And it doesn't taste bad at all. Almost like an alcoholic fruit punch,...kind of.
The Perfect Ten
A fantastic drink, and one of my favorites when making some for myself. I don't know how many bartenders can/will actually know about The Perfect Ten, but if you're at my house and I have the components in stock, feel free to ask for one. I think you will enjoy it.
Again for those who like their drinks straight and in a martini glass...here are some options for you.
Neon Ghost
A martini where you replace Vermouth with Pisang Ambon. A cool name, and a deadly drink. It is rather good though, speaking as someone who doesn't really do the martini thing, it is one of the few vodka-straight-ish drinks that I enjoy.
Pisang Pistace
This is a pretty renowned. I only had it once, and usually not one for adding cream to my drinks but it was worth a try. It is all right, but I wouldn't do it again personally.
Green and Sour
The official recipe calls for getting it in a highball glass, you can get it in martini glass too. Leave off the lemon juice though it is kind of superfluous to the recipe and tends to dominate a little.

if you like salty, try the filthy martini (tastes like olive juice)
if you like pickles the best shot I can find is a shot of vodka that is chased by a few sips of pickle juice (from the jar is best)
I am the same way. i cant drink it if i can taste the booze. Some good ones are white russian (creamy) & fuzzy navel (sweet). If they are made right they taste really good.
Juice based drinks are probably your best bet, Sex on the Beach and Bahama Mama's are tasty. Also try frozen drinks Pina Colads and Daquires are usually safe. I bartend and frozen drinks are usually the ones people say don't taste like they have enough alcohol in them, now matter how much I pour in. Hope that helps.
Im just like you...all my friends love to drink and get drunk...i think alcohol tastes like crap and beer tastes like piss....Try Lemon Drops, Apple Tinis, Pina Coladas, Buttery Nipples, Amaretto Sours (My fav). They all pack a punch but you cant taste it..
Some drinks that I think are yummy are Margarita's, Amaretto Sours with grenadine, Hot Chocolate with butter shots if its cold out side, Fruity martinis, Pineapple Juice with Malibu....and of course there is Wine. There are many different kinds and I like many, but its a nice social drink and there are health benefits.
Absolut pear vodka with apple juice.
A Lapu-Lapu. it's a large drink. but half of it contains 3 kinds of run. the other half is pineapple juice. 2 gets you trashed

Vodka too, but sometimes I don't add the vodka.
Not a real drinker either.
But this is real yummy.
vodka redbulls are delicious.
grandmelon bacardi & lemonade are also really good.
any flavored vodka(apple, raspberry, watermelon, limon, etc.) are good with either sprite or lemonade.
also if you just want a little something smirnoff twisted malt beverages are very yummy and lower in alcohol percentages...
