Can you get sick or go blind from homemade wine?!

Question:

Can you get sick or go blind from homemade wine?

I have those anti-bacterial tablets for winemaking and just a basic set-up, but just wondering if there is anything that could seriously go wrong. I made some wine a few years ago and my friends and I drank it and nothing happened to us, but I want to make something a little more high quality this time.

Answers:
I made thousands of gallons and never went blind and the only time I ever heard that you could go blind was when an old man told me that moonshine was a culprit of that during the twenties.I have heard that other things that are self indulgent will make you blind but all it did was make me a little hard of seeing and Im 69 now and still able to make wine!

it's a risk if u drink it directly but i used to mix it as a flavor in cooking, that's something different.

yes u can! gosh! didnt ur mom evr tell u dat??

There should be no problems from home made winemaking. The blindness and sickness from home made brew came from distilling the wine to make stronger liquor using a car radiator which put lead into the mix.

As long as you sterlize everything per the instructions then you'll be ok.

sick maybe, blind no....

Just like any kind of cooking, cleanliness is best. Usually wine with 10% or greater alcohol tends to be its own preservative. The worst that can usually happen is the wine to go to vinegar, but, as always, if your food or drink has a 'funny smell', dont consume it!

You can get sick if the yeast has'nt cleared for the wine, but at most you will fart (((alot))). lol
But you will not go blind!
