Is peach wine actually wine? doesn't "wine" come from grapes.?!

Question: Wine is technically made from fermented grape juice, which does not require the addition of sugar. The term wine is often incorrectly added to alcohol derived from other fruits, mainly because of a lack of a better word. The term country wine is becoming more common for non-grape wines.

Often, fruit wines are technically brandys because of the required addition of sugar and their higher alcohol content.

A purest would call it a "country wine"

Fermentation of the fruit makes wine.

Grape wine is usually called only wine....all other wines called by their fruit name..peach wine, strawberry wine and so on.

Wine is any fruit juice that has been fermented. It does not have to be from grape juice. Beer is a grain that has been steeped into a liquid (much like tea) called a wort and then fermented. Sake other wise known as rice wine is actully not a wine, but a beer.

Wine snobs would say "no" but wine can be made from almost any fruit, vegetable, edible flower, honey .....
