Is boiling tap water a good and safe way to have drinking water?!

Question:

Is boiling tap water a good and safe way to have drinking water?

Answers:
OF COURSE!

Boiling water gets rid of contaminated chemical byproducts from chlorine, kills bacteria and makes it around 98% or 99% clean.

Also kitchen water comes from the same source as bathroom water so boiling water would have to be a safe method.

There really are no more methods, other than using filters or straining water through cloths.

Just remember to refrigerate it before you drink ;)
and don't poor it right away in a water bottle, or it will shrink.

yes boiling water kills all the bacteria in it. It will not however clean the dirt out of it. To make it clean water you have to boil it. collect the steam. Then condense the steam using a "worm". This condensed water is purified and able to drink..this method is also a great desalinization process.

The water is safe for drinking in our community and does not need to be boiled in order to drink it. We do filter our water for drinking, by using a filter like Britta or Purr or filtering by Osmosis , that filtration will eliminate the chlorine odor and some other impurities.WE boil the water for teas, like White, Green or Earl Gray tea. It will not be harmful to boil the water, however that usually is not necessary. The Public system will announce if there is some danger in the drinking water from the faucet, and when it needs to be boiled, before drinking. One can check the safety of the water by contacting the water department in your community.

there are two things to worry about in water, and both are contaminants:

1) Bacterial contamination
2) Chemical contamination

Boiling water only takes care of (1) above and does nothing about (2).

Technically, there is a third thing to worry about, and that is (3) radiological, but not to worry about in city water from a tap.

Cheers!
(and drink up)

It is if your water supply is dodgy. Boiling will kill any bacteria in the water and once cooled keep in the fridge.

yes, if the pot is clean
