What temperature should I keep my yeast starter at for my ale?!

Question: I am creating a yeast starter for an ale that I am going to pitch at 18c. Should I sit the starter in a controlled temp of around 18c or does it not matter? Would 22 to 25c be better?

If you are going to store the starter, refrigerate it. Before you pitch the yeast, get it to the temperature of the wort. BTW, 18c seems a tad low for pitching an ale yeast. I pitch mine at 80 degrees F.

ideally you would want your starter at around room temp just prior to pitching for a wet starter, that way you don't shock the yeast and kill it. For dry use some of your wort to startit and activate prior to pitching.

Keep it warm and constantly stir it up to keep the yeast in suspension and awake...20c might be better then 18c but it won't matter too much....
