Have you ever experienced alcohol withdraws?!

Question: What were they like and how long did they last?

Answers: What were they like and how long did they last?

Yes I have and surprisingly enough, it really hit me 6 to 8 months later. I had the shakes so bad that I couldn't grab a carton of milk without spilling it, not to mention extreme mental and physical anguish. Actually experienced delusions of grandeur for a couple of months too. Not a pleasant time and am surprised I didn't die from it.

You can say that drinking is part of my religion. I was raised on it and have Italian and Irish blood in my veins with a genetic predisposition too. The only time I don't drink is when I'm incarcerated. I have rheumatoid arthritis all over and choose not to stick a needle in my arm, so I drink. Report It

  • Yes I'm currently into, I have very low impulse to drink something and I never drink enough to get drunk like I did a year ago. I dunno maybe is just self control. It's 5 months!

I have not experienced them myself but I hear they can become very bad. Actually, and this is true, Alcohol is the only drug in the world that you can actually die while detoxing from it. getting off other drugs may be physically and mentally brutal, but even dropping Coke or Heroine won't kill you. Seriously heavy drinkers can die if they just stop cold turkey. If you are trying to detox from booze make sure you do it under a doctor's supervision!!!
