Attack the problem hour by hour. Say to yourself "I'm not going to drink for at least an hour". Whenever the need comes on, say to yourself "I'm not going to drink for at least an hour".
Always take things like this hour-by-hour. When you've been sober for a while and the craving comes back, you have to take it hour-by-hour. I've been through this so many times I've lost count, and the hour-by-hour approach is what works for me.
I haven't had a drink for 4 years, and I've learned that you can't take anything for granted. If you have decided to not drink again, take it day-by-day telling yourself "I'm not going to drink today". When the thirst comes a'knockin', resist it for an hour at a time.
Good luck!
Buy the non alcoholic beer!!!!!
Think positive! THink of all the benefits that not drinking is doing for your body and your mind!
Try doing something to take your mind of drinking, like walking or reading a book!
Good Luck!
chew on a piece of leather. this too shall pass:)
addiction is incredible. let it burn.
you are getting an attack or something, this is part of it.
Call someone in AA. They have been through exactly what you have been through. Get to an AA meeting and tell someone about it. They are there to help. AA meetings are everywhere. You'll have no problem finding one. What ever you do, just don't drink today. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
I am going through same thing. A rigorous workout helps. Lifting weights, cardio. You get a rush of endorphins, feels great. It gets easier. Just stay active.
I don't know where you live, but there's a program on A&E called Intervention. If you watched that, you would never want to drink again. People's alcoholism gets so bad that they drink mouthwash. Don't drink. You'll be glad someday!!!! I'm not calling you an alcoholic, but you wouldn't want for it to get that way.
try to keep your mind off of it do something like pick up around the house or just go for a walk think about the way it made you act and remember the way you remember acting is not as bad as the way others seen it it was worse so you are now in a better place where you are now and your friends can help you if they are true friends.
you are a good person and i am proud of you for giving it up.
I say go for it and have those drinks you so greatly desire. Avoiding alcohol altogether is still letting the alcohol control you. Seriously, have a little self discipline, drink the two or so beers you crave, get that satisfaction, then have the strength to put them down and say there, that was wonderful. That's not being an alcoholic, that's just enjoying life and what it has to offer. Like the person said above, if needed, just get some non-alcoholic beer, so you'll still get that tasty satisfaction of a nice cold beer.
