Who loves George Killian's Irish Red Beer?!

Question: I haven't had any in a while, and the few I had yesterday tasted soo good.

Answers: I haven't had any in a while, and the few I had yesterday tasted soo good.

I had my first in college on draft at a place called Mac and Joe's in 1988. I recently have found them in bottles and can drink them all day long. Cheers, I am drinking one right now.

You know something...............I don't think we have that in Ireland. I have seen it for sale in America. Whats it like?

Ah ha. Are you gonna stock up for St. paddys day? Only 2 weeks to go. Woohoo!!!

Me

It seems my taste in beers tend towards drinking dark, reds, stouts, so on during the winter months. I don't know why. Yes , I enjoy Killian's Irish. Cheers.

I think it is made by Coors. I don't particularly care for it. Murphy's Red is much tastier and actually made in Ireland.

I'm not a very big fan of Killian's straight up, but it's freaking awesome when I use it to cook up my brats. Nothing else compares.

I don't care for it. As someone else mentioned, it's not even Irish. It's owned by Coors, and brewed in Golden, Colorado at Coors' main brewery.
On a side note, though... Even though Murphy's Stout is a real Irish stout, brewed in County Cork, the Murphy's brand is owned by Heineken. Murphy's Red was first brewed in the late 80's, and is brewed in The Netherlands (at Heineken's main brewery). So, Murphy's Red isn't actually Irish either! In fact, I don't believe Red is even sold in Ireland.
A real Irish Red or Amber would be Kilkenny or Smithwick's (both owned by Diageo, so the versions we have in the US are brewed in Canada, not Ireland.)
You could also try O'Hara's. That is a REAL Irish brewery that actually brews in Ireland and exports to the States, etc. They make a delicious Stout and a Red.
Keep in mind also, that Killian's is a lager, whereas the traditional Irish Red is an ale, which tends to have a maltier flavor, as opposed to the watery-thinness of Killian's.

My advice? Seek out Conway's Irish Ale brewed by the Great Lakes Brewing Company of Cleveland, OH. This is an outstanding interpretation of the Irish Red style, and is quite widely available. Sure, it's not from Ireland, but it's one of the best Irish Reds in the world!

Cheers!
