How are added sulfites any different than naturally occuring ones in wine?!

Question: I dont understand this. I was told that sulfites occur naturally in the wine making process?

if so, what are these added sulfites exactly then?

are these artificial ones , and really what are they?

Thanks for your answers!

Sulfites cover a whole load of sulfur based chemicals. Sulfur dioxide is used in small quantities during the wine making process -- it kills harmful bacteria on grapes arriving at the winery, it sterilizes barrels.

Unless you are one of a very small number of asthmatics who have a sulfur allergy -- and you would know by now -- you have nothing to worry about

Sulfites are used to clean wine making equipment and especially during the bottling in order to reduce the potential for growth of mold that can spoil the wine. Sulfites do normally not occur naturally during the wine making process.
