Is there a peanut butter flavored beer out there?!

Question: Anyone?

Answers: Anyone?

Short's Brewing Company in Bellaire, MI makes a Peanut Butter Porter that's quite nice!

I plan on brewing a beer using Butterfinger candy in the coming months...

(EDIT)
The key is to thoroughly roast or boil the oil out of the peanuts / peanut butter / candy / whatever before adding the materials to your wort - that will reduce any chance of lessening head retention/carbonation...

(EDIT)
Mayor, I don't know if I mentioned before, but we're on a very similar brew schedule... I'm currently bottling a Bing Cherry Weizenbock (not a stout, but a roasty brew nonetheless), and up next is a Mountain Dew Saison (MD contains OJ). Just thought that was a bit odd...

Cheers!

Agreed with Jpiepenbrok. I've never had a commercial example of a peanut butter beer, like Short's brewing, but peanut buttercup stouts and porters are pretty common amongst homebrewers at the very least.

Peanuts and peanut butter have a lot of oil. Wouldn't that kill the head retention?

Frank: I haven't tried it, but I know that grocery stores carry almond extract in the baking section that is alcohol based. I would feel more comfortable with that than adding something oily. What kind of beer are you making with the Mole flavor? I would think that a Mole stout would be delicious!

Wow, good question and answer session here. Now I am thirsty for some peanut butter flavored beer. I do love trying new things. This is cool.

Agreed with Jpiepenbrok and AleSmith. I've often heard about it in different beer magazines and at different web sites but never had the pleasure of it. Sounds like something I'd try to make... I'm currently brewing a chocolate cherry stout, next is an orange saison. Saison yeast is supposedly fragile and I'm not sure what the acidity of the OJ will do to it. Up after those I was thinking of a mint IPA.

EDIT:

Jpiepenbrok, I kinda noticed. My goal with my home brewing is to make the things I wish I could find in stores. There are tons of chocolate stouts out there, but no cherry chocolate. What goes better with chocolate than cherries? The saisons (one of my favorite styles) out there all have orange peel... maybe this is for a reason... maybe not. I remember the first time I say Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale, I thought what a great idea. Then I tried it and it was disgusting. I've always wanted to do it right after that.

I am searching for the same answer ... actually, I am planning a mole beer for Cinco de Mayo ... I was thinking chocolate, coffee, cinamon, peanut and chile flavors .. and am having trouble getting my arms around the peanut add ... I woory too about the oil ... maybe some sort of nut extract .. anyone try that? Thanks ...
