What do you think of these wines?!

Question:

What do you think of these wines?

I don't know too much about wine, but I received a lot as gifts this easter and was wondering if someone could tell me about their quality, price range, and popularity. Thanks in advance.

1. Chateau Pontet: Conet 2002

2. Chateau La Nerthe: Chateaunenf-du-pape

3. Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2002

4. Cuvee du Vatican: Chateauneuf du pape

5. Chateau Leoville Barton 2002

Answers:
All of your wines are very good quality wines. None are ready for drinking at the moment and will require some cellaring and patience.

Let's start with the Bordeaux. 2002 was an average vintage in Bordeaux but many estates made very good wine.

Pontet-Canet 2002: 92 points from Wine Spectator and usually costs around $50 a bottle.

Lafite 2002: The first growths usually make an outstanding wine even in a bad year. This one is no exception. 95 points from WS and usually costs $300-400.

Leoville Barton 2002: usually a consistent performer but suffered from the vintage this time: 89 points and around $70.

You didn't give a vintage for the La Nerthe. It is usually a good performer, though one should avoid the 2002 from Chateauneuf du Pape or anywhere in the Rhone. Runs around $50-60.

The Cuvee Du Vatican is an excellent wine. You didn't say the year or whether you have the regular bottling or the Sixtine Reserve. Either way, a great wine. Around $60 for the reserve. Both the 2003 and 2004 are fantastic wines with at least 20 year aging potentials.

Cheers!

Don't know the first, the second an fourth are lovely averaging around the $12 mark very nice wine.

The Rothschild is around ten bucks unless its a Pauillac then its like $199 The house name is very famous and they produce lovely wine.

The Barton ranges from $50 to $70

Add, just seen your handle, lol, know where I can get any Red from. U.K.

I think you have a great friends and family. Hold on to those wines for another 15 years and open for a special occaision.
