How do I brew wine from grape juice?!

Question:

How do I brew wine from grape juice?

I am in a dry country and am desperate to get some wine. I can get grape juice with no preservatives and sugar and bread yeast locally. Does anyone know what quantities and time etc to brew wine from natural ingredients?

Answers:
Wine ferments all by itself, you don't 'brew' it per se. Beer has to be brewed, but wine just needs the right conditions and a little time in a cool dark place to turn alcoholic. There are about a million different home kits to make your own wine, check around. You can also set up your own still (distillery) or brew your own beer at home, but if your really 'desperate' for a buzz you might consider seeking professional help.

Does your warden know you're doing this?

I think those French people prepare wine by jumping out and down on grapes in vats because I think vats are not vats and grapes are grapes and instead of filling the wine in bottles may be they should try marketing the Wine in a sweetened or slightly altered form mass-market in Tetra Pack - Aiko

bread yeast will die before it gets to any decent alcohol level.

you'd be better off using the natural yeast on the grape skins - i.e. don't wash them.

2 Kg grapes, crushed and squeezed
2 kg sugar
4 litres water
25 degrees c
6 weeks
2 months rest

drink, drunk , sleep

You can get a packet of wine yeast online for a buck. Basically, just put the juice and the yeast in a large bottle with some headspace, Put an airlock (you can get this and a stopper online too for around 2 bucks), and let it ferment. It may take up to a year for it to be pallatable.

I make wine all the time. I make it with strawberries which I think is a bit tastier but it's really easy. Here's what you need:
2 lbs chopped strawberries
2 cups sugar
gallon milk jug rinsed out well
condom

Put the strawberries and sugar in the milk jug. Could prove a little tricky since the hole is so small but just take your time. Fill the rest up almost to the top with water. Place condom over opening and sit in a cool dark place. After a week shake it up. You'll see the condom blow up. That's the gasses fermenting. Shake it every couple days to mix it up some. After about a month or 2 it should be ready. Just strain and chill and serve in your favorite wine glasses. It's really good and very alcoholic so don't drink and drive. I'm sure this could be made with crushed grapes or even any of your favorite fruits. Trust me, you will make it again!!!

I forgot to mention. Don't forget a rubber band to secure the condom onto the mouth of the jug =] Good luck
