Why do some beers insist on garnishing with fruit?!

Question:

Why do some beers insist on garnishing with fruit?

As in the case of Corona, Blue Moon, or Hefeweisen beers?
Am I the only one who says "STOP IT"?

Answers:
I'm with you- It's beer, not fruit punch!
No Fruit For Me.

because that is what fruits drink.

I do believe that is a Man Law: "Don't fruit the beer."

in the case of corona it is needed to cover the nasty taste.

It is tradition, and what most people expect and like. If you’re going to drink one of those beers, then order it without the fruit.

Because some people think it enhances the flavor- such as an orange or lemon with a heff. Personally I used to drink coronas with a lime because I didn't know better...thank god I know better now and steer clear of the fruit.

The reason the garnish it is because that beer isn't good enough to drink without it.

It complements the flavor of the beer.

Certainly it's a matter of preference. If you don't want fruit in your beer, ask that they don't put one in. I always ask they leave it out.

The motivation for putting a fruit in a beer come downs to two main reasons.
1. Sometimes the fruit or other garnish compliments the flavor of the beer. This is the motivation for putting a lemon in a Hefewiezen or Belgian White (like Blue Moon). The citric taste of the lemon compliments the yeast used (in Hefewiezen) or other ingredients (such as the spices in a Belgian White/Wit)

2. The other main reason is to mask "off flavors". This is the reason for putting a lime in a Corona. Besides not being a very compelling beer to begin with, Corona comes in a clear bottle leaving no protection from the sun (or florescent lights) causing "skunked" flavors with just over one minute of exposure. Consider these beers as intended for those who consider image more important than taste, or for those who like to pee a lot.

I dont like Corona any way so the lime or lemon helps get get over it

but the other 2 beers are real, good bears, I would not mess with that
