How Do I Get A Job As A DJ... ??? Is DJing A Part Time Job... ???!

Question: im going to college this fall and i want to have a part time job i enjoy doing... i always wanted to be a DJ b/c i love music

im play the piano and the guitar... i know very different that DJing... i never learned how to DJ b/c the cost of the equipment... too much of an investment with no promise of result...

there isn't really a school for you to get experience as a DJ...

With the recent increase of bedroom DJs and th advancement of technology, DJ-ing costs lesser than it used to.

A few things to note
1. Know your songs. Parts of the breakdown/genre
2. Learn what's BPM (beats per minute). You can only mix songs with similar BPMs.
3. There are software in the market that lets you DJ straight from a laptop. It shows the songs in wavelengths to make it easier for you to mix. Some software does the mixing for you too!
4. Alternatively, you could become a "start-stop" DJ. Which means you don't mix songs. Just end each song and play another. Some people cover this but introducing voiceovers.
5. But if you really want to learn the tools of the trade, brush up on points 1-3, and record a mixtape. Find a DJ from a club and pass it to him. Get his comments. If that DJ is willing to teach you then you're covered!

well to be a good or great dj you have to
1 know your music / whats hot and not
2 know your stuff
3 have dependable equpitment
4 listen to your cliental as to whst they want not what you want to play
5 have to have skills to be able to mix/blend seamlessly
6 have a great personality if you dont get along with people you will not get any referals
7 host a few parties and see if it is right for you saying is one thing doing is another

depends on where you dj. i.e night clubs, Holiday clubs, kids parties its all up to you. its not bad money but like i said that also depends on where and when your going to do it. ask around and make your on mixed disks and give them out. don't forget to put your number on the back.
