What type of red wine should I order while out this weekend at an Italian restaurant?!

Question: I'm quite knowledgeable about South American and Spanish wines; not so knowledgeable about Italian. Besides, all restaurants have different options. So I always discuss the choice with the server. Works every time.

Chianti

try a pinot grigio which is an effervescent dry white wine with chicken or fish, or try a glass of chianti ruffino or barbaresco
for red wines that go well with pasta or red meat, enjoy

Chianti, the Marchese di Antinori

Ask if they have white chianti. It is one of my favorites. Sparkling wines go well as well as merlot and cabernet sauvignon.

Try a Syrah, good! If you can get a Chilean Syrah

definitely a Chianti or a good Syrah

my two favorite red wines are both merlot and happen to be italian. they are chianti ruffino and vivolo :)

Well a merlot would be good. Or if they have it, tempranillo.
