Do cigars purchased at convenience stores still need to be cut?!

Question: I am looking to buy a few cigars to celebrate with a few friends, but I have never purchased or smoked a cigar. What type is a basic (and cheap) type I can ask for at a convenience store? And will I need to cut it (like is the practice at cigar stores)?

Thanks.

No, most cigars you purchase at convenience stores are machine made and they already have a hole to draw from them.

I would not consider any cigars from a convenience store, though, as they are usually rather harsh and are impregnated with all sorts of chemicals, like cigarettes.

I advise you to go here: http://www.famous-smoke.com/
and look at their bundle selections. You will get a much higher quality cigar for the same money or less than a convenience store cigar.

My other advice is to never, under any circumstance, inhale a cigar. Although most do not have the added chemicals and nicotine like cigarettes, they may become addictive and, of course, they may harm your lungs to a lesser extent than cigarettes.

Although cigars have been proven to cause mouth and throat cancer, there are no studies that conclusively prove that they cause lung cancer when not inhaled and when they are smoked in moderation. Just have a fine stogie, once in a while and appreciate it just like you would a fine glass of wine, once a week or so.

Lots of cigars and wine = health problems.

Moderate consumption of wine and cigars = enjoyment and free therapy.

Have fun.

If you smoke you can die! :(

erm yeah

just have to say that a cigar takes 7 hour away from your life but its okay to have one on celebration

1st Don't go cheap they taste like ****!!!
2nd Some come pre-cut they fall under the 1st catagory!!!
3rd At least buy something you and your friend will enjoy!!!

Ask the seller to pick something mild and not to cheap!!!

I don't know whether your friends smoke or not.
Did you know the likelihood of someone getting sick from breathing in the smoke is very high?
So, what you are planning to will be sinful.
Let me say that you shouldn't buy your friends a few cigars.
Do not you think having not to parchase is being a real friend
for them?

The "cigars" at most convenience stores have more in common with cigarrettes than they do with a fine handrolled cigar. The filler is mostly chopped tobacco instead of whole leaf tobacco and the wrapper and binder are basically a paper made with shredded tobacco instead of wood fiber that is called homogenized tobacco. The cigars that you would get at a cigar store are all tobacco and taste much better. Most cigar stores will be able to sell you a pretty decent cigar for under $3 a stick. If you are celebrating, it's worth the extra money compared to the crap they sell at most convenience stores. To finally answer your question, if you have to buy from the convenience store, Garcia Y Vega or Antony Y Cleopatra are probably the best and have a real leaf wrapper. They both are ready to smoke out of the package, no cutting required.

Don't listen to all these naysayers. It may be unhealthy, but as long as you understand the potential for addiction/ consequences of being a regular smoker, you should be fine. There is a little thing we like to call self control. Exercise it. Have a cigar with your friends, have fun, and then don't allow yourself to have another for a long time. Do this every time, and don't be dumb about it, and you certainly won't be setting yourself up for an untimely death.

That being said, I must agree that convenience store is not the best way to go, but if price is your main decision point, I completely understand. Anything you buy at a gas station is probably not going to taste anywhere near as good as a real cigar. For best results I recommend the White Owl blunts. Sounds funny, but they are probably the best tasting out there. They are mild enough, don't need cut, and come in flavors. They are the ones in the big colored tubes. I think they are about $1.50 each.

Keep in mind smoking a cigar is not the same as smoking a cigarette. Just light it and puff it. Don't pull it into your lungs (if you do, you will know why).

Be smart about it and have fun.

Yes most likely you do, however cigars at convenience stores are usually very dry. What you need to do is put it in any air tight plastic box or wooden doesnt matter. And put an apple core in there. Leave it like that for a few days to moisten up.

Some may not need to be cut, but those are of lower quality
