Can i substitue flavored smirnoff for rum in making daquiris at home?!

Question: i'm not fond of the way rum tastes, so when i make daquiris at home, can i use flavored smirnoff instead. i just found this new daquiri resipe that i want to try to make at home. its called an american daquiri and in honor of my husband, i want to make it for him before he deploys for a year to iraq. is this possible?

Absolutely. It will just be a dangerous fruity drink. With the rum flavor atleast you know you are drinking booze. With flavored vodka in a daq it will be "HIT THE LIGHTS"!

i mean, it's pretty much up to you. if you like the way it tastes, go for it.

It won't be a daquiri any more, but it'll still be tasty.

Daiquiri got the name from the American Forced Base in Cuba years ago, the country of rum. So it is normal to use rum when mixing a Daiquiri.
However, today we lost respect for the standard drinks. I even saw a Christmas Martini, mixed with green crème de menthe and cream!
You can call your Daiquiri a Vodka Daiquiri, but since vodka has no taste, you better stick to rum.
