pour from the 8 into the 5. then from the 5 into the 3 - now you have 3l in the 8, 2l in the 5 and 3l in the 3. pour the 3l into the 8 with the other 3l, now you have 6l in the 8 and 2l in the 5. Pour the 2l into the 3 container.Now you have 6l in the 8 container and 2l in the 3 container. pour the 6l into the 5 leaving 1l in the 8. Now you have 1l in the 8, 5l in the 5 and 2l in the 3. Pour from the 5l into the 2l in the 3 container this will leave 4l in the 5 container, now pour the 3l in the 3 container into the 8 container with the other 1l and you have 4l in the 8 and 4l in the 5 containers.

3-2-3 = Pour from 8 into 3
1-2-5 = Pour 3 into 5
1-7-0 = Pour 5 into 8
0-7-1 = Pour 3 in 5
3-4-1 = Pour 8 in 3
0-4-4 = Pour 3 in 5, finished
