You're considered an alcoholic if you consume either more than 3 drinks per day or more than 21 drinks in a week. There are also people called "functioning alcoholics." These are people who can consume large quantities of alcohol and still seem reasonably normal. They are still alcoholics. Seeming and being reasonably normal doesn't change what's going on inside the body. When you consume more Alcohol in your body than it can metabolize safely, your cells begin to burst and die. This is what the feeling of being very "tipsy" or "drunk" is. People can still act normal but the cells are dying. And you don't have to ever get drunk to be an alcoholic. Alcoholism is just when a person is addicted to consuming alcohol, regardless of the amount. Hope this helps. I've seen what over drinking can do to people. If you think she is then try to help. Check out AA and ALANON (ALANON is for family and friends of alcoholics)

A good way to test it to see the you can go one month without drinking. If you can't, you may be an alcoholic.

I don't have enough information to determine whether or not your friend is truly an alcoholic. I will let you know, that typically, a whole bottle of wine is 4 glasses, so it sounds like she's drinking more than half.

A lot of people (especially in Europe) have wine with dinner every night. The question is, could she go a night without? How about 2 or 3? If the answer is no, then she may have a problem.

if the alcohol does not effect her, then, no. there are moment when people are really in favor of drinking. she will stop eventually. I have glasses of alcohol every evening, and have no problem with, except the fact that i spend lots of money on it.

Half a bottle is only about two or three glasses. Five is a whole bottle. Trust me...I WISH you could get ten glasses out of a bottle, but it isn't even close.

If she isn't screwing up other things....probably not. But that is worth keeping an eye on.

It's hard to say for sure...
She is probably fine right now but it could grow into a problem. If you are sensing something chances are there is some reason to be concerned. You are a good friend to pay attention.

Nah she is not much of an achoholic. 5 is a whole bottle, she only drinks half most of the time, so shes good.

You are overreacting dude....halfe bottle is nothing to me atleast and i am definately not an alcoholic...chill and let her have her drink...in fact you should join her..it will make you a better person.

I drink a case of beer a day, I consider myself a drunk, Alcoholics go to meeting's....

ur gay,let her drink and have fun
