Do I need to use cooking wine for cooking? Or can I use normal wines for cooking?!

Question: And what can I cook with white cooking wine?

Answers: And what can I cook with white cooking wine?

i've always used cooking wines but marsala is the only example I can think of that is both a drinking wine and a cooking wine.

You can usually buy cooking wine on sale and just stock up thats what I do. The cooking wines you can use then reseal and they still will be good. Don't know if you can do that with real wine once its opened it should be consumed rather quickly or it starts to lose its taste.

Do not use "cooking wine" it has lots a salt added to it. Use normal wine.

I suggest using normal wine. I ussualy use some cheap Bulgarian wine.

I keep hearing "don't cook with any wine you would not drink"... must be good advice.

with white wine I'm sure you could enhance some chicken and/or pork dishes. maybe a veal or chicken piccata?

I prefer to use most wines that are not for cooking, but for consumption. These wines are okay for cooking as well.

I use regular wine and then enjoy the rest of the bottle with the dish you prepare.

I have used 'normal' wines with assorted roasts that I knew were never going to be drunk. As for white cooking wine, there are a number of sauces. I'll let someone else field the details about that!

I only cook with wine I like to drink. foodtv.com has more recipes than you will ever use. Just type in white wine, (and the whatever other ingredients you have on hand) and it will give you a plethora of recipes.

Gallo Burgundy for red and Gallo Chablis for white, Don't spend a lot of money to cook with those are fine....

Yep im with them.. I use drinking wine all the time, specialy in my gravey!

you should not cook with any wine that you would drink as a general rule.
