To the first responder...no offense, but if I wanted an appletini I would have asked my girlfriend. And no.....martinis are not "has been" drinks, they are just for a more mature audience. To the second responder, thanks for your help! Do you like a particular kind of vodka? I was thinking Pravda.

Martini & Rossi is good. Honestly, I don't think it really matters what brand because the amount that goes into a martini is very minimal.

What kind are you trying to make?
If it's a dirty martini, just use a 1/4 splash dry vermouth and then add olive juice.

If you really want to get fancy, get a vermouth mister. It sprays a fine mist of vermouth into the glass, then you can put the vodka (after being chilled) into the glass and not have to worry about mixing it in.

Now days dry vermouth is really a "has been"

Try a green apple vodka, and in place of vermouth use apple schnopps.
Garnish with a small slice of granny smith apple!

Breath taking!

As for the vermouth, brand is mostly irrelevant, though Martini & Rossi is good. As for the Vodka, I prefer Stolichnaya or Smirnoff, in that order.

Though you seem to have sufficient answers, let me chime in for reassurance (if any is needed). The brand of the vermouth is really not that important. I always use Martini (& Rossi).

For vodka, I stay away from Russian ones, because of the slight flavoring, but some people prefer Russian ones for that same reason.

If you want a twist, get olives stuffed with something besides pimento (e.g. garlic, onion, etc., etc.).
