Best Belgian beer, preferably darker and with live yeast?!

Question: I tried Chimay blue recently and loved it so im going to try to homebrew a clone since its like $10 a bottle, i heard you could make a starter from it since they bottle with same yeast as the primary but i didnt have any success (maybe i just got a bad/old bottle) so i was thinking of trying something else... what are some other good belgian beers (i prefer dubbels/strong darks but will try lighter stuff) and even better if youre a home brewer and know if it contains the live primary yeast strain

How much you willing to spend? Westvleteren 12 is the best, most difficult to get and most expensive. Rochefort 10 second. Chimay Red and St. Bernardis 12 a close third.

Chimay is good. Better yet, but impossible to find:
Westvleteren Blonde (green cap), 5.8% ABV, introduced on 10 June, 1999.
Westvleteren 8 (blue cap) (formerly Extra), 8% ABV.
Westvleteren 12 (yellow cap) (formerly Abt), a 10.2% ABV, introduced in 1940.
