Auction, may I auction a bottle of wine?!

Question:

Auction, may I auction a bottle of wine?

I have a bottle of Opus One 1997 and was wondering if the law would allow me to auction it.I live in Delaware.

Answers:
Here's the Delaware Code and what I think are applicable section:

(a) No sale and delivery of alcoholic liquor shall be made in this State unless by a manufacturer or other person who holds a license of the Commissioner to sell and deliver alcoholic liquor and unless the sale and delivery is made to a person who is authorized to receive alcoholic liquor under Chapter 5 of this title.

However, you may want to contact the Office of Alcohalic Beverage Control Commissioner at
http://date.delaware.gov/dabcpublic/gene...

not to minors they probly must have an id.

Depends on how it is sold. If you live in another state than Deleware then probably not - the rules are more strict across state lines.

You need to go online and type in 'sale of alcohol Delaware' and see what comes up.

Very few states will allow alcohol sales across state lines so that should answer your question if you don't live in Delaware.

Type in 'Delaware Auctions alcohol' to see what comes up and do your research from there. Probably depends on the city that the auction is being held in - if you live in Delaware.

What kind of auction? They should have their own rules, check with the auction site.

Laws vary by state, but you can sell wine on eBay. Good luck.

I don't see why you couldn't auction it off at an auction as long as a minor doesn't buy it. I would first check with the auctioneer about rules on something like that just to be sure.
