What is the proper way to put rum into a coconut and store it overnight?!

Question:

What is the proper way to put rum into a coconut and store it overnight?

I have heard that it is possible to make homemade coconut rum. I can't seem to find any recipes on this, so I'm curious if anybody out there knows the details. Specifically, I'm curious as to what to do with the coconut milk and how to store the creation overnight so it has a chance to 'marinate'.

Answers:
Are you thinking about making your own coconut "wine" or "brandy"? Not a good idea. It isn't as easy as it might seem. There are two general kinds of alcoholic beverages made from coconuts (here in the Philippines). One is made from the sap collected when you cut the coconut flower and the other from the coconut water. Then both are filtered, fermented, and usually distilled. If you try this at home you'll probably end up with vinegar.

If you want coconut-flavor in your drinks you should probably just use commercially available coconut milk. It comes in a can (or in powdered form) just shake and pour. This is easier than drilling a hole in a coconut and pouring rum inside. I don't think you'll get any extra coconut flavor by storing it in a coconut. I hope this helps.
