Your First Time; Japanese Saki?!
Answers: As my wife and I celebrated 22 great years in Branson this past weekend,At the "Shogun" restuarant I had my first match with Saki. Let me just say,I'll never do more than that first vase ever again! How was yours?
My first time was fantastic and pretty eventful. I was at a local yakitori shop and of course, Japanese business men were to be found drinking their stress away. They had a wine bottle sized sake being passed around to their "ripe as a tomato" faced co-workers. And the funny thing is, is the fact that it's harder to tell if you're utterly smashed when you're sitting on the floor drinking. The warm liquid travels down your throat and a few sips later, you'll be feeling slightly light-headed the entire night. The worst part is, is the getting up from the floor part and that's when you ultimately know when you've had too much. That's exactly what I've witnessed with the group of business men that were there at the restaurant. Not only were they loud, which is uncommon of Japanese people but they couldn't even make it out the door! So, if anything, I am glad that you and your wife sat at a table that night because if anything, you'll know when you've had enough. :)
Oh, for future reference, it's spelled out as "sake" not saki, and pronounced as "sah-keh", not "sah-key". :)
my boyfriend and I went to get sushi and he talked me into trying Saki. I didn't like it but he loved it.He drank mine and his and well...
Let's just say he really couldn't remember his own name and ended up puking on himself in the car.
We broke up the next day.HMMM.. I wonder why?
I actually liked it. I tried pearl sake. I have also had a sake cocktail (with sake, vanilla vodka and lime juice) and it was really good.
My first and last time with Saki was during my freshman year of college. I happened to meet a guy that I'd known since first grade and he invited me and a friend over to his dorm room. He was really into Japanese stuff. I think his girlfriend was even part Japanese. Anyway...he heated up some Saki for us to try. It was so bad! He told us to drink it fast because it tastes worse when it's cold. I could barely get it down, though. Needless to say, I didn't drink more than one or two of those little Saki cups.
It's actually spelled sake.
Sake was my first alcoholic experience, I drank it with some friends during a lunch when I was 19. I can't say I've ever gotten drunk off of it but I do enjoy the flavor and have been known to enjoy warm sake with a cigar.
Not that impressed with it
Not as good as i expected to be when i drank it
i wasn't 18 yet and we went to celebrate my grandma's bday at benihana (bomb food). sake is my uncles favorite. he wanted me to try it as a joke cause he wanted to laugh at the face i would make. he told me it was like japanese tequila. i took it like a pro. haha the joke was on him cause i finished everything that was in his cup
