How do champagne corks get into the bottle?

Hi, they use a machine these days. just does the same job has a man just quicker. Just need a mushroom cork and use some force to push it in.

The secret is in the cork before they put it onto the bottle.
The corks were first compressed and dried so that the part entering the bottle neck is straight so it can be pushed into the bottle with easy. (especially when done by machine )
The cork will then expand & flare out from absorbing the moisture from the champagne, thus giving it the bigger end in the base of the mushroom shaped cork.

Whether done by a hand operated or motorized machine, it is the same process. Cork used for wine and champagne is naturally flexible and not dryed out. The cork is compressed and pushed into the neck of the bottle. It naturally expands and creates the tight seal. Due to the pressure from the carbonation in champagne, the wire cages are used to keep the cork in place during it's journey from vineyard to your table. Wine and champagne bottles should be stored so that the liquid remains in contact with the cork. This will prevent it from drying out and allowing oxygen into the bottle (oxidation).

They are crammed into the bottle from a machine.
