Where sells ABSINTHE ?!

Question:

Where sells ABSINTHE ?

Tesco have sadly discontinued it, does anyone know if any other supermarkets sell it in the UK?

Answers:
There are 25 different varieties available at www.thedrinkshop.com

There are many variations of absinthe using or omitting a variety of traditional ingredients (mainly herbs) including grand wormwood, anise, fennel, coriander, hyssop, melissa, star anise, nutmeg to name a few.

Absinthe originated in Switzerland, created by a French doctor as a herbal tincture. On June 14, 2004 the Swiss Parliament lifted the 96 year old ban on absinthe. Many other countries (such as the UK, Spain & Portugal) have never banned absinthe. Even when the French banned the sale of absinthe in 1915 they allowed the production and export to continue. Currently the EU has set a limit of 35 milligrams/kg of thujone (the active ingredient in grand wormwood).

Absinthe is a "prohibited" item in the US and is subject to being seized by the United States Customs. Absinthe recently became legal in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

In the US we have to order it online. The prices are better then if you get online! Good stuff!

it's sold openly in Prague...

In my area Tesco still sell it, but you could try somewhere like Sainsburys, they tend to sell a lot of varieties of alcohol.

No sorry don't know, I have only ever got it from abroad.

Think they may sell it in 'SPAR' shops. Also try local off licences. Failing that, you know anyone going to Spain or somewhere like that soon?

Asda sell it

www.thedrinkshop.com

they sell loads of different kinds and can deliver in 48 hours!

i bought a bottle in asda yesterday
i'll post it to ya for £30
but seriously Asda sell it or try some of your local off licences

Nobody.

Absinthe was French & was banned by their government 70 years ago. Even by their standards of the day it was brain damage big time(see my other answer).

Similar anis based drinks have been available ever since. As it's not a brand name Tesco can use it. Perhaps their young """executives""!! have been advised...
