How long does a bottle of spirits such as Whisky or Rum keep once opened?!

Question:

How long does a bottle of spirits such as Whisky or Rum keep once opened?

Bottles of spirits don't have best before dates - does the alcohol content at as an indefinate preservative? A bottle of wine will only keep a few days once opened, but what about things like Whisky, Rum and Vodka?

Answers:
The higher amounts of alchohol act as a preservative of the spirits. Should be good for years.

They keep as long as your friends dont come over and drink it.

I personally try to finish an opened bottle with in a weeks/ months of opening it, but it can sit around for a long, long while.

whiskey will keep tell you drink it ...which probably wont be long ...ha ha

Forever, and ever, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

YES, Indefinitely

If you put in the freezer after you open it will last longer than just keeping it in the refrigerator or out at room temperature.
I hope this helps you.

forever

Probably forever.

As long as there's still alcohol inside, then nothing should be able to breed inside. The only way that would happen is if you left the lid off for days, and all the alcohol evaporated.

Edit: My point is, even though the flavors might break down over time, it's probably never going to be dangerous to try it, since nothing can grow in it.
