There is a genetic mutation in 50% of Asian decendents which causes a flush reaction. Those afflicted will turn bright red, but also get a hangover very quickly (as in during that night, rather than the morning). They tend to just feel sick instead of drunk, so most are inclined not to drink that much.

The other 50%? They can drink fine. Perhaps some weigh less than most people, so they can drink as much as their body is able to for their weight.

they can

I should say it's a stereotype...but it's not. They can't drink well. There are some good asian drinkers but there mostly small and skinny and can't take alcohol well. Sorry if I offended anyone but I speak the truth!

It probably isn't in their culture.

they can. it is Japanese people who get red and are a little more affected by alcohol. it is because they are naturally allergic

it is not part of their culture to consume heavy liquer. saki is the main thing japaneese people drink and that is like a light wine with rice or something.

oh! baby you haven't seen them all, there are people here in the Philippines, there are people here that take alcohol for breakfast =)

They aren't big guys generally.

Oh they can but only if they take a special pill that reverses the effects of alcohol.

sorry revenge of the nerds reference.

Well I'm an Asian so here I speak forth yeah! Nah, it's a misconception I guess or most probably a stereotype. People who can't drink just can't and doesn't matter if the alcohol beverage is light or strong. Likewise people who can hold their liqueur like myself can drown myself like Homer Simpson 8)

Alright I'm not speaking for the whole Asian population and I've read that in general the minimum threshold of most Caucasians to hold their liqueur is higher than Asians. I can offer a few possibilities here. Firstly, and perhaps the easiest to understand is that most Asians have smaller body mass compare to Caucasians. Secondly, alcoholic drinks are not as widely popular in most Asian cultures as in the West to the extend that over here some even consider these drinks a luxury. The rest of what you have read here are myths.

Statistics are always skewed towards the beliefs of the investigators till these days. You've met too few Asians in your life and trust me you haven't met that walking barrel yet. Cheers!

i never heard that. but you're right everyones body is different when it comes to how much they can consume.
