I associate beer with food... period.
I've hosted dozens of beer dinners over the years, in addition to numerous tasting events where I select certain foods based on their compatibility with whatever beers are being featured.
People always make the mistake of bringing wine to a dinner, when, in all reality, beer has just as much right to be at the table; and beer is MUCH more versatile than wine, as far as matching up with foods.
Here are some of my favorite matches...

Doppelbock with Swiss Gruyere cheese
Russian Imperial Stout with molten chocolate cake
Double IPA with carrot cake
American Brown Ale with grilled steak
IPA with bleu cheese

I could go on all day...

women!

pizza, burgers, tacos...now i am hungry and want a beer!

as a pro chef i can tell you that beer goes well with any type of spicy food. thai, japanese, mexican, morrocan. for some reason the fizzy bubbles really help cool off the spices of ethnic foods. when i thin kof foods that go with beer i think of pizza, cheddar and beer soup, beer braised short ribs cause i play world of warcraft, i use beer in my chili recipe, i have made sorbet with danish beer, black mussels steamed in beer with thai ginger and purple basil is a great dish. when i make wings i make a hot sauce from habaneros, raisins, ketchup, garlic, and tamarind puree. some dark bers have flavor profiles that resemble coffee and or chocolate too, i hope this helps..
