Why is it a good thing for the drinking age to be 21?!


Question: im 18 and I think it is stupid
the government feels I am old enough to be held responsible for my decisions, but then they wont allow me to make certain decisions

Drinking ages have nothing to do with the federal government other than the fact that they blackmailed states into passing a drinking age.

This act says that unless the states pass a minimum drinking age, they would lose federal highway funding. Therefore, technically, the US government isnt responsible, the states are.

And its absolutely not a good thing...at all.
It's not a good thing. They should lower the drinking age to 18 and raise the driving age to 21. Report It

    • Look at it THIS way [And by the way; I AGREE with your complaint about WHY 18 year olds can do SOME things- but not others...]; MOST of the fatal car crashes that occur on Our Highways- come from people UNDER the age of 21. Do you REALLY think putting a Beer in the hands of THAT population- is going to Improve those Statistics??! {And let me tell you alittle "Secret..." The Government gives 18 year olds JUST ENOUGH "Responsibilities"- so that THEY can Justify sending them off to War BEFORE they get old enough to "know better" !!! How's THAT for hypocracy! :0 } .
    i do agree the government does suck on age limits. you can buy cegerattes, lottery tickets, go to the porn store and clubs, and also go into the millatary at the age of 18, but not drink. im 25, and i thought the same way. they way that they think is that teenagers are still immature and cant make the right choices. not feeling and seeing the importance of life and the values that comes with it. they think if they put an age limit on this where you get a couple years out in the "real" world, then you can understand why there is the age limit on buying legaly. trying to save lives from d&d
