Answers:
From a Man's perspective:
Nothing is better and makes a guy feel appreciated as much as a nice juicy fat steak seasned with plenty of salt and black pepper, some mashed potatoes and then some fresh vegetables. For dessert ice cream is great, or chocolate cake is a winner. I know it may sound simple but im sure he'll like it, i know i would. As far as wine try going with a merlot or pinot noir. Chile produces some great pinot noir for very affordable prices (say 10 or 15 dollars a bottle). California Merlot is often a good buy too, ask someone at the wine store to guide you along producers.

spring mix salad
dill & herb fish baked
lemon pepper green beans
rice
orange sherbert with ginger snap cookie made into sandwich style

white zinfidel wine

Make sure you have some nice music, too! (Al Green, Marvin Gaye are excellent for romance)

For dinner I'd have angelhair pasta with sauce (pesto, alfredo, red) italian sausage, herbs, red pepper, onion, garlic, etc... Then a nice light salad with a yummy dressing (try asiago caesar), and fresh garlic bread (rosemary bread from your grocer's bakery)

The absolutely best inexpensive wine I have ever had is 'Yellow Tail' brand. It is better than a lot of more expensive stuff I have tried. All of them are good, but if you're going white- try the Pinot Grigio. Remember- red sauce is best with red wine, white with white, and pesto with either (I prefer white)
Have fun!

We always dine by candlelight. Tonight my spouse (NOT my husband - we fortunately live in Canada where one can have legal spouses without getting formally married) and I are having something ordinary: grilled steak with mushrooms sauteed in a thyme butter and chilled asparagus salad in a viniargrette. We will have a fresh baked baguette and a cheese course. The wine will be a bottle of Trader Joe's 3 Buck Moe red (either the merlot or the zinfandel - we stock up as much as we can when we visit in-laws in the States that have a TJ's nearby). Last night we enjoyed shop-made Polish sausages (2 varieties) steamed with sauerkraut, served with pumpernickle (buttered with cultured butter) and creamed spinach which we matched with another 3 Buck Moe (the gewurztraminer).

Chicken Marsella w/red wine.

One of my favorites is shrimp chimichangas with a nice red wine. Some good ones? Gabbiano Chiantii, Smoking Loon Merlot, Rabbit Ridge any, if you prefer whites go with a B & G Vouvray, try a Taz Pinot Gris, if you like Rose - Church Creek is nice and dry. White Zin's are really for more inexperience wine drinkers. If you like sweeter try a Semi Sweet Reisling or someone mentioned a Geuwertzminer. Good luck.

I love spreading out a picnic with bread, cheese, fruit, cut veggies, shrimp, brusetta & olives. I think its fun and sensual, there is something about feeding each other and having a glass of wine.

If you like white, id go with a nice pinot grisio its crisp and light and should be served chilled. If you a red fan, id go with a pinot noir, its light, mellow and goes with almost anything.

Strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate make a great dessert and is a fun finish to the meal.

Mixed Green Salad with Gorgonzola crumbles, sliced apple, candied walnuts with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing
Grilled Rib Eye Steak
Sauteed Mushrooms
Rosemary Mashed Potatoes
2003 Veramonte Cabernet Sauvignon ($10)
Chocolate covered Strawberry's & Whipped Cream
Chandon Blanc de Noirs Sparkling Wine ($20)

I think it totally depends on who it is with. What do they like? Focus on what types of foods they will like and what will make them comfortable and in the mood! Romance is mood man! Some guys like posh, some guys like meat and potatoes. Make it comfortable and easy on yourself so you can enjoy it as well. A nice red is more romantic in my mind than a white or a zin.

depends on what your coking go with the colors though like if your making meat go with a merlote or a nice read wine if your on the moore lighter side or something with a wite sauce go with a white wine i like wild vines wines there sweeter the peach or the blackberry is good
