Well my first guess is it's a "perception" problem. We tend to drink faster when we're out with our friends and the rate we're drinking at makes a big difference. For example downing a six pack in an hour and a half can get many people ill but downing it in 3-5 hours gives your body a chance to get rid of it.

It also may be the activities involved. When you're with your bf you might actually eat a good meal rather than just snacks which allows everything to digest slower!

You have other things on your mind, and you feel less embarrassed around your friends when you get sick.

Is it possible you drink slower with your b/f? If you drink fast, you're going to feel the effects faster. I'm holding back the rude comments as you wish.

are you sure you are drinking the same exact amount? are you fixing the drinks both times, or is someone else? if they are mixed drinks, the amount could vary,, even if wine or draft beer,,, the quality could vary,,,,, other then that, consider your tiredness level, if you have eaten,,,,,,,, also with beer and wine, sometimes its the brand,,,,,, i cant drink bud without being ill,,,,, but miller is fine ,,,,,, same with wines,,,,,, and liqueur, certain brands make me ill

Maybe because you just feel more relaxed around him?

I dont know thats really odd though.

a lot of intoxication is a cerebral effect, basically your minds doing. The enviroment and people you drink with affect how you feel your drinks. it is possible and expected that you have a higher tolerance when your around people you enjoy more

Although you may be drinking the same amount, it is very common to have your environment increase the effects. Don't worry about THAT part--worry about the fact you're getting sick all the time with your friends, and cut back on the booze when you're in that environment! (The trick I use to cut back is to drink tonic water, because the taste reminds me of a vodka tonic--without the "getting wasted" part.)

I think you maybe is trying to keep a more sober level when you re around your b/f than when you are with your friends.
I personally, get kind of annoyied when my girl is too drunk and it is just natural. Nobody likes a drunk person around and mostly I think because you got to take care of them and it just gets frustating after a while.

Are you making the drinks, maybe some of your friends are heavy with the liquor? That or maybe its what you are eatting while you are drinking. Greasy food and sugar can be a bad combo with liquor. Also if you drink on an empty stomach you will feel the affects of the alcohol more quickly.

Hmmm, not sure...do you drink the drinks faster while you are with your friends? Maybe while you are drinking with your boyfriend, you had something to eat, and while you were drinking with your friends you didnt eat, or didnt eat much? That could be it. Dont listen to the people telling you that you need to stop drinking. They are lame. They dont know how much you drink or how often and still they give their rude comments.

The easiest answer is to say its all in your head. While drinking with your friends everyone tends to be more excited and as a group start to feel more intoxicated even though you are not. the brain is tricking your body into believing that you are drunk when in reality you are not. The brain is a very tricky organ. Lets say we put you into a group and tell you person A has a contagious disease. Chances if we rattle off the symptoms, within hours your body would start showing signs even though you didn't have anything. There have also been studies done on amputees. Their body creates a ghost pain. Their right hand or foot still might hurt even though they have lost their entire arm or leg. We did one experiment in college with a bunch of freshmen. For a party we went out and bought them a keg. The trick was it was a Coors light Na. Only a few of us new this.. We informed them that the beer was free as long as they only drank out of their keg. By the end of the night most of them were running around drunk. Even though there was no alcohol in the keg their minds believed it. Thus it had to be true.

To sum all this up ill give you an easy quote. "a person is intelligent, but people are stupid"
