Is it okay to water down white wine?!

Question:

Is it okay to water down white wine?

Answers:
Occasionally I find a cheap white wine goes very well with Sparkling H20 or Club Soda. Half and half. It definately makes 1 glass last longer! But I wouldn't water down a good white, it's up to you to decide though.

why why why...

i'v put ice cubes in white wine b4 (i know), which was ok, but i suppose i drank it b4 they melted

.....Sure long as no one is watchin you look like a punk...Ive done it.....some wines are strong.....do what ya do ya know

Yes, there is very little to water down in the first place.

why would you want to ruin it that way?

It'd be sad if it was a really good white that you were watering down. If it's nothing too special, don't feel too guilty.

Lots of people drink wine spritzers. That's basically watered down white wine.

Yeah but only if you really have too, otherwise the flavor gets weaken.

good white wine...ie: $10 or more per bottle....absolutely NOT....

mediorce white wine...$5 to $10 per bottle.....probably not....

under $5...sure, who cares?

bottom line....good wine should not be...because it tastes so good without it.......don't spoil it...

I enjoy my chardonney over crushed ice along with a slice of lemon. I don't feel that is gets watered down at all. I also enjoy chardonney with a diet tonic water and lemon. Again, I find it very refreshing.

if you have to water down a wine, it's too strong/not the right taste for you. don't spoil it. try a softer wine, with a fruitier taste like prosecco or some smooth italian whites. or, try mixed drinks, like gin/orange juice or someting like that.

if you're drinking a good wine, realize that years have been spent perfecting the taste, aging it in barrels, doing everything right to achieve the taste it has. its not meant to be watered down, so just find another drink.

There are drinks called "wine spritzers" which a white wine has tonic or soda water in it with ice, so it's "fizzy". Bottled, it's called a wine cooler. If you're going to drink wine, drink wine, not watered-down wine. You're killing the taste. People have worked hard to get a taste for a certain vintage that they made, so to "water it down" is an insult. If you don't like it, switch to a different kind or something else. Does it really matter what anyone thinks about what you drink? Maybe a Lambrusco, which is a chilled red wine. Sweet. Or, experiment with different wines, you might find the taste that you like.

white wine spritzers are ok. Ice cubes are a choice I guess, too. But why bother if you are going to water it down? It completely ruins the integrity of the wine.
