Answers: Hell NO! There are a lot of great tasting liquors available at the local package store. Why would someone want to drink something that tastes like complete **** and burns your entire gastro intestinal tract up as it goes down? The only people I know that really have to make it are the guys locked up or completely broke.

The "industry" got started during Prohibition, when you couldn't get a legal drink. Some 'shine is quite good; some is poisonous. To modify an old Pommy saying, you pays yer money and you takes yer chances.
While distilling is illegal and largely regional, there are a lot of people here who brew their own beer and vint their own wine, both legally. Fine hobbies.
