How do you order a drink? What should I get?!

Question: I'm not a big bar hopper and am going with a new group of friends to a hip new place. Thing is I don't really know how or what to get from the bar and I don't want to look like a dork.

How do you get the bartenders attention? What should I get? (Remember I don't drink often and I would like to be able to recall my night.) About how much would that drink cost? What do I tip the bartender? Any help would be great, thanks.

Since you are not much of a drinker you could order a "fuzzy navel" it's peach shnapps and oj. Or you could drink some wine coolers. They are delicious and taste really good. You don't taste that nasty boozy flavor. As far as the price...it depends on where you go. The nicer the place the higher the cost usually. The bartender will notice you when you walk up to the bar and ask you what you want to drink. When you need another drink just slide your empty glass/bottle to the inside edge of the bar and they will get the hint. The tip is up to you. I usually double the first digit of my total bill. Example: if my bill is $23.00 I tip $4.00. You can round up or down as you wish. Hope this helps.

pina coloda or koluha and cream are good cost not much tip dollor

you can get much information in this website, kindly stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time

A wine cooler or wine spritzer would be light on the alcohol and give you something to hold during the evening...Spritzer has the least calories. Cost would be up to the club, $3 to $9, tip accordingly. The Bartender's job is to sell drinks, Hold your money in your hand at the bar he/she will see you eventually...waving and shouting won't help.

Edit: Moondoggie..nicely put.

To get bartender's attention try to make eye contact, if you have to say something be polite or if hes cute even a little flirty.
Each bar is going to price their drinks differently, but if you can afford with each drink order give at least a dollar. If the drink is higher the more you'll want to tip.
Since you don't drink often stick with mix drinks and ask the bartender not to make them strong. If you order a rum and coke the next time ask for a coke on ice and your friends will think that you are just drinking another.
Eat breads or crackers before you go. Don't stuff yourself. Just have something in your stomach. It'll soak up the alcohol and if you do get sick you'll recover faster.
Biggest thing know your limits and be safe.

order what your friends are ordering, its most likely that you'll enjoy it too, make eye contact and dont complain about not being served, or else you wont be served, as for tips, i just make a nice number, like if the total is 21 ill make it 25, saves me carrying around coins that ill lose anyways

If you're going with your friends you'll probably want to start you own tab. The bartender should notice you pretty soon, if not, a simple "excuse me" will usually get their attention. Do not whistle, shout repeatedly "hey" or "yo", or otherwise be obnoxious. If it takes a minute for him to get to you, don't be offended. Remember that he's got other customers that are probably a lot more drunk than you. Don't forget please and thank you. Not every time, but don't be ill-mannered.

Since you don't know what to drink, my suggestion is to get to the club/bar/whatever early, so you can ask what the barkeep recommends. DO NOT stand at a full bar and not know what you want to drink. Remember that he's got other customers, and time is money to a bartender.

Drink costs vary from place to place. If you're not sure about how much a drink costs, ask. Most time you'll get a ballpark answer for mixed drinks, unless there's a special. Barkeeps usually know the prices of their establishment's beer. If you feel uncomforatable about asking the price, just tell him that you want to be able to leave him a good tip. But make sure you leave a good tip.

As far as recalling your night, drink slowly, and at your own pace. don't let any one fool you into thinking that drinking at breakneck speed is cool.

As for tipping, it's completely up to you. Most gratuity is 10 to 20 percent, but I always tip my bartender well. It depends on your tab (your bill). A good way to figure it out is to put youself in the bartender's shoes. Would you want a ten percent tip on a twenty dollar tab? Of course not. What the hell are you gonna do with two dollars?

And don't worry about looking like a dork. When you see all of the drunken idiots and their antics on display in the full view of the public, you'll realize just how cool you are...

Enjoy your night out.

Here are my top five drinks to order when at a bar. I'll provide you a link with the recipe to see if you'd like it...and how i order it as well.

Sex on the Beach-nothing special just ask for a sex on the beach. If you want ice in it say on the rocks for any drinks
http://www.liquorlive.com/drinks.php?opt...

Bay Breeze-just order a bay breeze already served on the rocks
http://www.liquorlive.com/drinks.php?opt...

Blue Orchid-could I please have a blue orchid(also already on the rocks)
http://www.liquorlive.com/drinks.php?opt...

Fuzzy Navel-already has ice
http://www.liquorlive.com/drinks.php?opt...

Kamikazi-this is typically served without ice so if you want ice say with ice or on the rocks
http://www.liquorlive.com/drinks.php?opt...

I hope this helps you find a suitable drink. Depending on where you live cocktails will cost between 5-10 dollars per glass. You can expect to leave 1 dollar per drink for the bar tender.
