Wine suggestions for tacos?!
Wine suggestions for tacos?
yeah i know, many people drink beer with tacos, but i'm making some chicken tacos and i was wondering if anyone could suggest what wine (or rather type of wine) i should serve... the tacos will be medium-spicy, mostly grilled chicken and vegetables, with some fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cilantro, lime, etc), and a little bit of spicy tomato-based salsa...
thanks!

Generally spicy food is fantastic paired to chilled, fruity, full-bodied Sauvignon Blancs (a white wine) and Rosés (blended white and red grapes). Chili heat will overpower Rieslings. Pinot Noirs (one of my favourite's)is a good choice and light Merlot (Red). Cabernet (Red wine)is too heavy and I guarantee you'll get heart burn paring this wine with Mexican.
Hope this Helps
TEQUILA
Pinot blanc, chilled.
The "chicken" , I think , is the operative word. If you can get it try a Graves, or indeed any dry white. Cheers.
yellow tail shiraz
sangria!!! red wine, with a little fruit juice, cut up some real fruit, like apples, pineapple, pear, whatever you like, put it n the beverage, thats the spanish wine!!!, sooo yummie too!!!
i would suggest a wine called obsession i think its for iron stone winery. its good with spicy food
ARE YOU ARMANDO CELORIO?
I would just make margueritas! If you really just have to have wine, try a white wine. Reisling, white zinfadel, or a chardonnay go well with chicken.
Any white wine is good. Try trader Charles Shaw..it's inexpensive and good:)
If you are going for spicy tacos, Id go for a nice white wine like pinot griso. It will be light, crisp, not interfer with the flavors and refreshing.
Margritas also blend nicely ;-)
Spicy foods can be tricky to pair wine with because many spicy foods just won't go well with any type of wine. However medium spiced chicken tacos would probably do well with an "off dry wine" either a dry German white wine or a french Vouvray. Off dry wines suite spicier foods the best and If i had to pick I'd say the Vouvray would be my choice and can be found on line or at about any drugstore or market selling wine for around $10.
With spicy foods another rule to remember is to avoid drinking a high tannin wine like the Cabernet Sauvingnon family. These type of wines will ruin the meals flavor and you'll be looking for a nice place to spit it out quickly.
So just remember off dry for spice unless the spice is the vast majority of the dish then it may be very hard to find a wine to pair it with.
Hope this helps.
