Does anyone know how much a 1978 bottle of Crown royal is worth.?!
Answers: Or was before I cracked it open and started Saint Pats with it?
The paper label across the top of the bottle is probably the US Federal "stamp" required on all spirits sold in the US. Crown Royal is not a vintages whiskey. It is aged in oak barrels for approximately 3 to four years. Whiskey does not continue to age in the bottle. so its taste will be very similar today as it would have been in 1978. The only thing that ruins Whiskey is air seeping in thru the cork or bottle cap.
As far as value is concerned. The only thing that might make the bottle of Crown Royal More valuable than it was the year it was sold would be the Federal Liquor Stamp across the top of the bottle. Take the bottle into two or three upscale liquor or wine shops and ask the proprietors. Then decide what you may want to do with the Whiskey
You may want to have a Special Whiskey Bottle Opening party? Just be certain to invite people who enjoy Canadian Whiskey.
how do you know it WAS from 1978?
at least the shelf price in stores now.
I would think that Crown Royal would be the same price as store price. Crown would not become stronger since bottled. But if you have broken the seal....I don' t think you would get anything for it.
haha probably like 20 bucks more just because its old. but i love how you opened it and then asked. haha shows a true drinker.
They have blenders to make sure that all crown royal is the same all the time. You might find a collector that would like the bottle and pay more for that. That is if there is even a diference in the bottle that a collector could obsese over.
No more then a bottle being sold today, Once liquor is removed from the barrel or vat it stops aging....
